The Black Pyramid Butterflyfish (Hemitaurichthys zoster) is a species of marine fish belonging to the family Chaetodontidae. It is also commonly known as the Zoster Butterflyfish or Black Pyramidfish. This strikingly beautiful fish is native to the waters of the Indo-Pacific region, including the Red Sea, East Africa, and extending eastward to the Hawaiian Islands and the Marquesas.

Characteristics:

Appearance: The Black Pyramid Butterflyfish has a distinct and eye-catching color pattern. It has a white body with a striking black "pyramid" pattern on its side, which gives it its common name. The black pattern starts from the back of the fish and tapers down towards its belly, resembling a pyramid shape.
Size: They typically reach a maximum length of about 20 cm (8 inches) when fully grown.

Behavior: These fish are generally peaceful and can be found in small groups, although they may become territorial when housed in smaller aquariums.
Habitat and Feeding:
Black Pyramid Butterflyfish are primarily found in coral-rich areas of clear lagoons and outer reef slopes. They prefer depths between 3 to 25 meters (10 to 80 feet). Their diet mainly consists of coral polyps, small invertebrates, and zooplankton.

Aquarium Care: If you plan to keep Black Pyramid Butterflyfish in an aquarium, you should provide a well-established tank with plenty of live rock and hiding places to mimic their natural habitat. They may be kept with other peaceful fish species, but be cautious with other butterflyfish as they can sometimes be territorial towards their own kind.
