The Blue-faced Angelfish, scientifically known as Pomacanthus xanthometopon, is a species of marine angelfish belonging to the family Pomacanthidae. It is also commonly referred to as the Yellow-faced Angelfish due to the bright yellow coloration on its face.

Here are some key characteristics and information about the Blue-faced Angelfish:

Appearance: As the name suggests, the Blue-faced Angelfish has a striking blue face with bright yellow patches around its eyes and mouth. The body is mostly dark blue, and it features vertical bars made up of alternating light and dark stripes.

Size: These angelfish can grow up to around 14 to 15 inches (35 to 38 centimeters) in length.

Habitat: Blue-faced Angelfish are native to the Indo-Pacific region, including areas like the Red Sea, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, and various islands in the Pacific Ocean. They are typically found in coral reefs and lagoons, often in relatively deep waters.

Diet: Their diet mainly consists of sponges, tunicates, algae, and small invertebrates. In a home aquarium, it's important to provide a varied diet to ensure their health and well-being.

Behavior: Blue-faced Angelfish are known to be territorial and can be aggressive towards other angelfish or similar-looking species. They may also be prone to nipping at coral in a reef aquarium.

Aquarium Care: If you plan to keep a Blue-faced Angelfish in an aquarium, it should be a large one with plenty of hiding spots and live rock to mimic its natural habitat. Adequate water quality and temperature are essential for their well-being. It's also recommended to add new fish to the tank cautiously, as they can be territorial and may not tolerate the presence of other angelfish.

Blue-faced Angelfish are prized by marine aquarium enthusiasts for their striking appearance, but they require careful care and consideration due to their territorial nature and specific habitat needs. When kept in a well-maintained aquarium, they can be a stunning addition to a marine setup.
