The Coral Beauty Angelfish (Centropyge bispinosa) is a popular and colorful marine fish species that belongs to the family Pomacanthidae. It is also known by other names such as Two-Spined or Dusky Angelfish. These small-sized angelfish are native to the Indo-Pacific region, where they can be found in coral reefs at depths ranging from 10 to 60 meters (approximately 33 to 200 feet).
Appearance: The Coral Beauty Angelfish is known for its stunning and vibrant coloration, making it a popular choice for reef aquariums. It has a deep royal blue to purple-blue body color, adorned with contrasting orange, pink, or red vertical stripes on its sides. The rear part of the body and the caudal fin (tail fin) usually have a bright yellow or orange hue. The dorsal fin may have a dark margin, and the pectoral and pelvic fins are typically transparent.
Behavior: In their natural habitat, Coral Beauty Angelfish are solitary or form pairs. They are generally peaceful but can show territorial behavior, especially towards other angelfish or similarly shaped species. In reef aquariums, they may sometimes nip at coral polyps or small invertebrates, so caution should be exercised when introducing them to a reef setup.
Feeding: Coral Beauty Angelfish are omnivores, feeding on a varied diet in the wild. Their diet includes algae, small crustaceans, zooplankton, and other small organisms. In aquariums, they should be offered a balanced diet of high-quality marine flake foods, pellets, frozen foods (such as brine shrimp and mysis shrimp), and occasional algae-based foods.
Aquarium Care: To keep Coral Beauty Angelfish healthy and happy, it is recommended to provide them with a well-maintained aquarium of at least 30 gallons (approximately 114 liters) in size. Ensure the tank has plenty of live rock structures and hiding spots, as this species appreciates places to explore and seek shelter. Good water quality and stable parameters are essential for their well-being.
Compatibility: Coral Beauty Angelfish can be kept with other peaceful and non-aggressive fish species in a community reef aquarium, provided there is enough space and hiding spots for each fish. As mentioned earlier, be cautious when combining them with other angelfish or similarly shaped species to avoid territorial issues.
