Hoplolatilus oreni, commonly known as the Oren's Tilefish, is a species of marine fish belonging to the family Malacanthidae. This species is native to the waters of the Indian Ocean and the western Pacific Ocean, including areas around Indonesia and the Philippines.

Oren's Tilefish typically inhabit sandy or rubble areas near coral reefs, where they dig burrows in the substrate. They are relatively small fish, usually growing up to about 10-15 centimeters in length. They have elongated bodies with striking coloration, often featuring vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow, along with intricate patterns.

These tilefish are primarily carnivorous, feeding on small crustaceans, worms, and other benthic invertebrates that they find in the substrate. They are known for their secretive behavior, spending much of their time hiding in their burrows and emerging mainly to feed.

In the aquarium trade, Oren's Tilefish are occasionally available, but they are less common compared to other marine fish species. They require a well-established aquarium with plenty of hiding spots and a sandy substrate to mimic their natural habitat. As with any marine fish, it's essential for aquarium hobbyists to provide proper care and suitable tank conditions to ensure the health and well-being of these fish.
