Twinspot Anthias
(Pseudanthias bimaculatus)
The Twinspot Anthias is one of the most striking mid-water reef fish, known for its bright coloration and graceful schooling behavior. Native to the deep reefs of the Indo-Pacific, males display vivid shades of pink, orange, and yellow with two distinct dark spots on their dorsal fin—hence the name “Twinspot.” Females are smaller and softer in color but equally beautiful, often transitioning into males as they mature.
These anthias thrive in large, well-oxygenated reef aquariums with plenty of swimming space and gentle flow. They prefer being kept in small harems—one male to several females—and should be fed multiple times per day with small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, copepods, and other planktonic fare.
Peaceful yet active, Twinspot Anthias add constant movement and brilliant color to any reef display. Ideal for aquarists with mature reef systems and stable water conditions.
