Description
PhosBan Reactor 150™
The PhosBan Reactor 150 is designed with the upflow principle to achieve the most efficient use of PhosBan® or other chemical filter media. By pushing water from the bottom upward through a dispersion plate, it forces an even distribution of water through the media, and prevents channeling. It can be mounted hanging on the back of the aquarium or below the aquarium. Hose barb connections are for 1/2 inch i.d. tubing. Includes 1/2 inch barbed ball valve for flow control, and hose clamps. Use with any pump having a capacity between 100 and 250 gph, but regulate the flow rate to the recommended 20 to 30 gallons per hour with the included ball valve.
Technical Data
Capacity: Use with up to a maximum of 200 grams (385 ml) of PhosBan, or a media height of 5 inches (13 cm).
Aquarium size: One reactor for up to 150 gallons (568 Liters). Multiple reactors may be used for larger aquariums.
Recommended flow rate: ca. 20 - 30 gal/hr (75 - 115 l/hr). Too much flow can grind PhosBan.
Connection for hoses 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) i.d. The inlet and outlet flexible 90° fittings rotate to suit your installation.
Important Notes: Do not use a media bag in the PhosBan Reactor. Simply place PhosBan or other GFO media inside it according to the instructions. Don’t over or under fill the column. Max 5 in (13 cm) of GFO media, min 2 in (5 cm). When using only activated carbon, the entire column can be filled. PhosBan may be mixed with phosphate-free activated carbon (HydroCarbon2 from Two Little Fishies). This can provide the necessary media volume when less than 100 grams (190 ml) of PhosBan is used. Do not place ball valve on the exit pipe. Restricting the flow on the exit pipe pressurizes the reactor and can cause leaks.
